I’ll be using 4 colours when I pour. I then combine the resin in various cups. each 6 ounces. (3 ounces each of resin and hardener) Because it has a lengthy open time, I prefer to utilise the Art Resin brand here. 45 minutes or so before it begins to cure. And it hardly has any smell.

 

This sculpture’s “canvas” is simply a 15″ square piece of 3/4 pine plywood. As a base coat, I apply a white primer in three coats. While I waited for the resin to warm up in the bath, I prepared that. The resin can flow off the sides of this wide plywood trough without creating a huge mess, serving as a basin to catch all the drips.

Then I added a copper slug. I’ll be honest; I’m going. I quickly felt bad about that choice. But I did my best to mix all the colours together using my reliable heat gun. I should say that I find it fascinating to watch, so even in my panic, I was in good spirits.

Because it is so glossy and reflects so much light, getting a nice picture of it was perhaps the most challenging element.
